Meet Rejessa Cheema. Rejessa is BYOBF Network’s first Marketing and Events Intern, pursuing a joint degree in Psychology and Business from Langara College. When she’s not at school or work, she can be found nestled in bed on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr. Besides that, this beauty enjoys good food and good times with her friends. As a South Asian woman herself, Rejessa feels there are limited opportunities for those wanting to enter the business world. Rejessa firmly believes in helping her community attain their goals, whether it be personal or business related through the BYOBF Network. @rcheems
Say hello to Avi Gill, our newest intern at the BYOBF Network! Avi is a Simon Fraser University student, where she is pursuing her degree in Communications and a minor in English. She is extremely passionate about South Asian women coming together to educate and empower each other. Avi firmly believes that the only way to truly succeed is to help others on their path to success. Avi will be also be contributing regular blog posts and assisting on-site at BYOBF Network events, so be sure to say Hi!
Meet Mini Kahlon. Mini works in Social Services as an Employment and Assistance Worker, providing front-line income assistance services for some of the most vulnerable members of our community. In her spare time, Mini can often be found at local parks and the waterfront, being walked by her dog, in the kitchen experimenting with recipes, play boardgames on her Xbox, or enjoying an evening on the town. Hailing from a male-dominant corporate business background, Mini’s connection to the BYOBF Network is strengthened by a shared passion for assisting women of ethnic minorities succeed in their careers.
BYOBF Nework is excited to have Kristina Lal join our team as our 2nd Marketing and Events intern. Kirstina has a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of British Columbia, and is currently pursuing her second degree in accounting. She has a passion to be a part of organizations that empower and enable woment to be the best they can be, and this is why she wanted to be a part of the BYOBF Network. A background in leading and running her campus based women’s organization, Kristina is excited to start her new role with BYOBF Network and re-connect with the South Asian community. @Kristina_Lal
Another one of our fabulous BYOBF Network ambassador’s is Mindy Sond. She works full-time as a Legal Assistant at the Department of Justice. She also works part-time as a Beauty Expert at the Beauty Boutique at Shoppers Drug Mart. In her spare time, she volunteers with ‘Caring Cuz We Can’ which is a small group of individuals who make a difference by donating their time, money and food to the homeless in the Vancouver Downtown area.
Aside from working and volunteering, she is a big believer in having “me” time. “I feel it is important for us as individuals take a step back and say, you know what, now I need to cater to me.” She enjoys spending quality time with those that are near and dear to her. Mindy is a foodie who enjoys going to different, new and upcoming restaurants offering various cuisines. She also enjoys shopping and attending various events in the lower mainland.
I was introduced to BYOBF last summer. I love what BYOBF Network believes in which is to empower South Asian women and women of various ethnicities. This network is a great way to meet other like minded women and make friends along the way.
